Plumbing quote checklist
A short quote is easier to send and easier to argue about later. This list is a working reminder, not a contract template and not legal advice.
- Your trading name, phone and email, and company or VAT number only if they apply to you.
- A quote number, the date, and the date the price stops being open.
- The customer name and the address where the work happens. Those can differ.
- A job title a customer can repeat back, such as replacing a kitchen mixer and the isolating valves.
- The scope in plain sentences: what you will supply and what you will do.
- Exclusions: making good, concealed pipework, electrical work, or anything you have not priced.
- A price presentation the customer can follow. One total is enough for a small job. Groups help when the work has stages. Line detail helps when they asked for a breakdown. Do not include your cost or margin.
- Whether the price is before or after VAT, the tax amount, and the total.
- Any deposit and the balance, and how you want them to accept. A simple reply quoting the reference is enough until you choose a different process.
- A sentence that extra work or unforeseen conditions can change the price and should be agreed before you continue, where that is practical.
Before you send it, look at the internal margin once more. If it is below the target you set, decide whether to raise the price. The quote template follows the same headings as the PDF in the app.
